ABC-Paramount Records

ABC-Paramount Records was an American record label established in 1955 as the music division of American Broadcasting-Paramount Theatres (AB-PT). Originally named Am-Par Records, it quickly rebranded as ABC-Paramount and became a significant player in the industry, producing music across various genres, including pop, rock, jazz, and country. The label signed major artists such as Paul Anka, Ray Charles, and John Coltrane. In 1966, it was renamed ABC Records and continued expanding until its acquisition by MCA in 1979. ABC-Paramount played a crucial role in shaping the music industry, licensing masters, acquiring smaller labels, and pioneering new musical trends.
