Acorn Records was a short-lived American record label founded in 1950 by Herman Lubinsky as an offshoot of Savoy Records. Based in Newark, New Jersey, the label was created to utilize alternative distribution channels while still being sold through Savoy. Acorn specialized in rhythm and blues, jazz, and gospel music, releasing singles by notable artists such as John Lee Hooker (as “The Boogie Man”), Erroll Garner, Jimmy Scott (as “Little Jimmy”), and Hal Singer. Despite its promising roster, the label ceased operations by the end of 1951.
